Fresh arrest warrant against Star, Zee chiefs
INDORE,
SEPT. 6.
A court here has issued fresh arrest warrants against the Star India Chairman-and-Managing Director, Rupert Murdoch, the Star India Director, James Murdoch, the Star India CEO, Peter Mukherjea, and Zee Turner's Subhash Chandra along with 17 others in a case of alleged cheating.
The arrest warrants, returnable for September 27, were issued by the Judicial Magistrate, First Class, N.P. Tiwari, on August 27.
The warrants were issued on a complaint by a local cable operator Sashi Kant, who alleged that the top officials of the company, in connivance with each other, hatched a conspiracy and cheated him to make illegal and unlawful gains for themselves.
The court had taken cognisance of the case under Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), read with Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code. — PTI
