Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 6. The Railway Passengers' Association, Varkala, has urged the railways to withdraw the rescheduling of the the Kanyakumari-Bangalore and the Kanyakumari-Mumbai Express trains and to restore all the halts of these two trains in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts, which were withdrawn with effect from September 1. A meeting of the governing body of the association held at Varkala pointed out that the rescheduling of the two express trains and cancellation of some halts had caused a great deal of hardship to commuters. The association urged the railways to introduce two fast passenger trains from Thiruvananthapuram to the north, which follows the previous schedule of the Island and the Jayanti Janata Express trains. In the return direction, the two fast passenger trains should be operated so that they reach the Central Station here at 10-30 a.m. and 3 p.m. respectively.
AIYF protest
Meanwhile, the district committee of the All-India Youth Federation has decided to launch an agitation against the rescheduling of the express trains and the withdrawal of stops.
