This Day That Age
Seven of the eight nations, attending the SEATO conference in Manila, are expected to sign, on September 8, a collective security pact providing for united action in the event of external aggression in the area. The odd man out may be Pakistan, which has not yet given any commitment to sign it. Nine of the ten articles in the original draft treaty have already been approved by countries representing territory from the Himalayas to the Rockies - Britain, the United States, France, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines and Thailand.
