CHIKMAGALUR, SEPT. 7. Court proceedings in Kadur were paralysed for the second day in succession as lawyers boycotted courts on Tuesday. M.K. Nagaraj, Bar Association secretary, said the demands of the lawyers included providing basic facilities in the court complex such as drinking water, toilets and a parking lot. He said repeated appeals to the District Judge and the High Court in this regard fell on deaf ears. A photocopier had run out of order six months ago, making it difficult to obtain copies of the court orders for filing appeals. Mr. Nagaraj said the Government had not made any arrangements for free legal aid in spite of conducting a number of camps. Lawyers would launch an indefinite hunger strike if their were not considered, he added.
