Zacharias Mar Theophilus being installed as the second Suffragan Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church at the St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church in Kozhencherry on Tuesday.
PATHANAMTHITTA, SEPT. 7. The installation ceremony of Zacharias Mar Theophilus as the second Suffragan Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church was held at the St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church in Kozhencherry today. The head of the Church, Philipose Mar Chrisostum Mar Thoma Metropolitan, was the chief celebrant at the installation ceremony. Joseph Mar Irenaeus Suffragan Metropolitan assisted him. The Bishops of the Church, Geevarghese Mar Athanasius, Geevarghese Mar Theodosius, Yuyakim Mar Coorilos, Joseph Mar Barnabas, Isaac Mar Phelexinos and Thomas Mar Themothios, and the Church secretary, Cherian Thomas, attended the function. The Mar Thoma Metropolitan led the holy Eucharist at the church as part of the installation ceremony.
Public meeting
A public meeting to felicitate the new Suffragan Metropolitan was held on the church premises, later. Mar Chrisostum inaugurated the meeting. The former Union Minister, P.J. Kurien, Joseph M. Puthusserry, MLA, the district panchayat president, K.K. Royson, and the Serifed chairman, Victor T. Thomas, attended the meeting.
