Welcome

Sir, — Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's statement on the `tainted' Ministers issue that the "malady should be nipped in the bud ... at the electoral stage" is welcome. It is time politicians shed their lackadaisical attitude towards the entry of dubious characters in the political arena. Their indifference has threatened democracy and rendered the electoral process a mockery.
