Zee pays first instalment to BCCI
MUMBAI,
SEPT. 7.
Zee Telefilms on Tuesday paid the first instalment of $20 million to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the telecast rights of matches to be played in the country for the next four years.
The broadcast rights were awarded to Zee for $308 million (about Rs. 1,400 crore). The Subhash Chandra-promoted media and entertainment major also said it will decide `in a day or two' on who it will partner with for its sports channel to be launched next month, and informed that it was in talks with companies like Turner Group and Ten Sports.
