BANGALORE, SEPT. 7. Dakshina Kannada (DK) dominated the opening day of the Canara Bank State junior athletic championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Tuesday. DK bagged five gold, while Bangalore athletes set new meet records. R. Sharathraj (14.55m) in boys' under-20 shot put, Prithviraj (32.64m) in under-16 discus throw, Natasha Sagar (5.48m) in girls' under-16 long jump and Shilpa Sundar (5.76m) in under-18 long jump bettered the previous best.
Boys: Under-20: 1500m: Rohit (Sports Hostel, Bangalore) 4:04.7s. High jump: P.G. Sanish (DK) 1.83m.
Shot put: R. Sharathraj (Sports Hostel, Bangalore), 14.55m NMR.
Under-18: 1500m: N. Lokesh (Kolar) 4:20.4s. 4 x 400m relay: Arjun Track and Field 3:43.5s.
Under-16: 2000m: Revanth Kumar (DK) 6:08.7s. Discus throw: Prithviraj (Rai Athletic) 32.64m, NMR.
Girls: Under-20: 400m: B.P. Mangala (SAI, Bangalore) 57.35s. 4 x 400m relay: SAI, Bangalore 4:07.43s.
1500m: Jyothi Kolekar (SAI, Bangalore) 4:56.4s. Shot put: Arpitha A. Rai (DK) 10.08m. Javelin throw: K.B. Nishma (SAI, Madikeri) 35.84m.
Under-18: 400m: M.G. Soji (SAI. Madikeri) 59.31s. 4 x 400m relay: Dakshina Kannada 4:08.3s.
1500m: M.S. Manjula (DK) 4:59.8s. Long jump: Shilpa Sundar (BSC), 5.76 NMR. Hammer throw: Jyothi (Dharwad) 32.98m.
Under-16: 2000m: B. Indira (Sports Hostel, Vidyanagar), 6:46.8s.
Long jump: Natasha Sagar (Indo German) 5.48m NMR.
