Manmohan chairs meeting on India-Pakistan talks

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 7 . The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, today chaired a high-level meeting in which issues pertaining to the just-concluded India-Pakistan talks and parleys with separatist outfits in Jammu and Kashmir were discussed.

The meeting was attended, among others, by the Home Minister, Shivraj Patil, and the top brass of the security agencies.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed about the developments in the India-Pakistan dialogue besides the talks held by the Pakistan Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, with separatist leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, informed sources said.

The meeting also highlighted the continued attempts by Pakistan-based militant outfits to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir and create widespread disturbance.

Mr. Singh, who is scheduled to attend the United Nations General Assembly later this month, was also briefed on the developments in the Centre's attempts for starting talks with separatist outfits in Jammu and Kashmir. — PTI
