Spate of robberies in city

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 7. Robbers struck at seven different places in the city in the last two days taking away valuables worth over Rs. 5 lakhs.

In a house-breaking, robbers took away 26.5 tolas of gold ornaments and 2.5 kg of silver articles from the house of N. Narasimha Raju at Hasmathpeta of Bowenpally. The house owner, who went to his friend's house along with his family members, found the door broke open on return and the property missing.

Charge against maid

A maid, Padma, was accused of stealing 12 gold bangles, each weighing one tola, from a house in Jubilee Hills on Monday. According to the complainant, T. Anitha Reddy, she kept the bangles beneath the pillow in the bedroom. They were found missing allegedly after the maid cleaned the room, she charged.

In another property offence reported in the Jubilee Hills police station limits, 20 tolas of jewellery, a digital camera and Rs. 2,000 in cash were stolen from the house of P. Ananda Rao, who went to attend a function along with his family members. The thieves gained entry into the house by breaking open the lock.

Ornaments stolen

In Bharatnagar near Borabanda, gold ornaments weighing six tolas and saris, all worth Rs. 50,000, were stolen from the house of Mohd. Mustafa. He and his family members were out of station for the past one week. They returned home on Monday.

Unidentified persons broke into a flat of Prakash Apartments in Nallakunta and took away four tolas of jewellery on Monday. The flat owner, Upender Reddy, went to his relative's house when the robbery committed.

Shaik Chand of Sayyada colony in First Lancer of Banjara Hills lost valuables worth Rs. 25,000 when his house burgled on Sunday.

A resident of Vahininagar, M. Saraswathi, lodged a complaint with the Karkhana police on Monday that gold and silver articles worth Rs. 25,000 were stolen from her house when her family members went out.
