CNC park planned in Coimbatore

By Our Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE, SEPT. 7. A city-based private company has proposed to set up a Computerised Numerically Controlled (CNC) park to bring together select small-scale machinery operating units. It would be known as `Coimbatore CNC Park.'

"The idea is to have at least 100 machinery initially and take up orders of huge volumes," the Chief Executive of the park, S. Jaya Prakash, said.

He said that the city, a hub of engineering units, had at least 2,000 CNC machinery and a large number of these were in small and medium-scale industries. A number of them undertook job works for the large-scale units.

With the increasing demand for outsourcing precision components in various sectors, the CNC units here had better scope. By coming together as a cluster, these units would be able to bag more orders.

Applications invited

Hence, the company had called for applications from units interested to participate in its cluster approach programme. It would sign an agreement with these units and tap global orders and display the cluster at international trade fairs.

Since quality consistency was a significant factor, technical assistance would be provided by the initiating industry. Further, the participating units would be urged to go in for quality standard certification.

He said that these units would get at least 15 per cent additional income and they can continue with their individual job-work orders too.
