Support for herbal initiative

KOZHIKODE: As part of contract farming, Herbz India has come up with an offer to support farmers in determining suitable land, supplying planting materials, facilitating finance, providing agro-input, giving expert consultancy and assurance of buyback in stevia cultivation. The Herbz India chief operating officer, James Jacob Kynadi, and chief executive officer, Vinay James Kynadi, told presspersons in Kozhikode on Tuesday that stevia was a highly potential and profitable crop that would give returns on investment of above 100 per cent. Farmers would be given the sapling at Rs. 4 per plant and the buy back would be at the prevailing market price or a floor price of Rs. 90 per kg of dried leaf whichever is higher. — Our Staff Reporter
