Uma Bharti's release

Sir, — I refer to Uma Bharti's outburst against Sonia Gandhi after her release from the guesthouse- turned-prison. Statements such as it is time Ms. Gandhi "learnt a lesson" and that she would invite Ms. Gandhi to hoist the National Flag at the BJP office were unwarranted. The rhetoric is similar to Narendra Modi's Sonia-bashing election campaign, which boomeranged on the BJP.

A. Jesu Raj,
Tiruchi, T.N.

Sir, — Ms. Bharti's resignation as the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and her surrender in court undoubtedly enhanced her image. Will the `tainted' Ministers in the UPA Cabinet follow suit? The BJP has clearly scored a win over the Government on this issue.

O.B. Nair,
Kochi, Kerala
