Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Bombay High Court has passed an order restraining nine satellite TV channels from beaming adult movies, trailers and other programmes without permission from the Central Board of Film Certification. If children view adult films that are telecast after midnight, it is the fault of the parents. Why ban the films completely? It is not as if only adult movies or trailers with explicit scenes have a negative effect on children. Many serials portray negativity in their characters, particularly women. The institution of marriage is being abused in most soap operas. If anything, these need to be restrained with immediate effect.
