CHENNAI, SEPT. 8 . Rainfall occurred at many places over coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Kerala, Lakshadweep, coastal Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and Telangana and dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm. are: Polur (Thiruvannamalai dt.) 6, Arakkonam (Vellore dt.), Kanchipuram and Kakinada 4 each, Nilakottai (Dindigul dt.), Thuckalay and Eraniel (both Kanyakumari dt.), Manjeri (Malapuram dt.), Dowlaiswaram and Rajahmundry (both East Godavari dt.) 2 each and Vandhavasi and Cheyyar (both Thiruvannamalai dt.), Cholavaram, Poondi, Thiruvananthapuram Airportand Prakasam Barriage (Krishna dt.) 1 each.

FORECAST (valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka.
