HYDERABAD, SEPT. 8. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president and Union Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has claimed that statehood for Vidarbha will be included in the manifesto of the Congress for the coming Maharashtra elections, giving strength to the demand for Telangana State. He said this information was passed on to him this morning by the former Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president, Ranjit Deshmukh, with a request to campaign in the elections. Speaking to reporters, here on Wednesday, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said the development in Maharashtra was the latest signal given by the Congress leadership for formation of Telangana State. As per his information, the AICC would ask all its MLAs and MPs in Telangana to campaign in the elections in support of Vidarbha. He along with the Congress MLAs and MPs would vigorously campaign for the Congress.

Mr. Rao criticised the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, for clinging on to the unified State slogan. The result of the "anti-Telangana'' stand of the TDP was exposed when it lost all seven byelections to ZPTCs recently. Earlier, several TDP leaders and workers from Siddipet joined the TRS in his presence. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rao promised to bring Godavari waters to Siddipet. He also promised to carve out a district of Siddipet within a month of the formation of Telangana State. Those who joined the TRS on the occasion included Siddipet Agricultural Market Committee Chairman, M. Srinivas Reddy, and the Siddipet Assembly constituency in-charge of the TDP, J. Srinivas. Both of them had contested against Mr. Rao in the previous Assembly elections. The TDP Mandal Parishad presidents of Chinnakoduru and Siddipet mandals, Bhoomi Reddy and Chokka Reddy respectively, and several activists of the TDP also joined the TRS.
