By Our Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR, SEPT. 8. After 24 hours' ordeal of house arrest, the Tadicherla Mandal Parishad President(MPP), D. Sulochana, and the Ansanpalli village sarpanch, G. Raji Reddy, were set free by villagers of Mallampally of Tacherla mandal on Wednesday morning following an assurance by the APTransco authorities for providing power supply immediately.

The Manthani legislator, D. Sridhar, consulted the villagers on the cellphone on Tuesday night and assured them of solving their demand of providing power supply.

Accordingly, the villagers bought the Mandal Parishad President and the sarpanch to the Manthani town and handed them over to the legislator and the Manthani Revenue Divisional Officer, Anand Raju.

The legislator held meeting with the revenue and the Transco authorities for the supply of power to the village. When the villagers deposited Rs. 5,000 for providing the necessary infrastructure, the Transco authorities had assured power supply on a war-footing.

On the other hand, the Manthani police registered a case under IPC 365 (abduction) against 20 villagerswho were involved in the house arrest of public representatives.

However, no arrests were made.
