HYDERABAD, SEPT. 8. The APCC president, D. Srinivas, has held the TD president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, responsible for the Anantapur killings by accusing him of nurturing the faction culture to dangerous levels during his regime. Talking to presspersons on Wednesday, Mr. Srinivas said though the Congress Government was doing its best to curb factionalism, it was not an easy task in view of the past history. Better wisdom should prevail upon all for the menace to end, he said. Condemning the killings of faction leaders in Anantapur, the PCC president said the campaign of the TD against the Government was ridiculous.
Raps BJP
Referring to the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations on September 17, Mr. Srinivas said the BJP was trying to give "a communal twist'' to the event. The BJP had no role in the liberation of Hyderabad and hence, had no right to call for celebrations, he said. On the Siddipet by-election, he said the seat "belonged to the TRS" and it was only proper that the Minister for Youth Affairs, Harish Rao, who was inducted into the Cabinet without being an MLA, contested the seat with the help of the Congress. No doubt, there were some aspirants within the Congress for the seat, he added. No decision was taken however on the Asifnagar seat which also faced a by-election, he said.
Digvijay visit
The AICC general secretary in-charge of State Congress affairs, Digvijay Singh, will be here on Friday along with Jayakumar to interact with party workers. The day-long programme at Gandhi Bhavan would be used to discuss party programmes and organisational work, according to Mr. Srinivas.
