MUMBAI, SEPT. 8. The Additional Sessions Judge, Abhay Thipsay, said today that fresh charges would be framed against 21 accused in the Best Bakery case on September 15, and asked the special public prosecutor to prepare the draft charges by Monday. Though two more accused were arrested on August 20, five are still at large, according to the investigating officer, P.P. Kanani.
Reports sought
P.R. Vakil, the special public prosecutor, told the court that the Gujarat Police were not keeping him informed and not sending him reports on the efforts to arrest the remaining accused. However, Mr. Kanani said he had submitted the relevant reports to Manjula Rao, the other special public prosecutor in the case. One of the main accused, Jayantibhai Gohil, is yet to be arrested. Mr. Thipsay said, ``We can't wait for them to arrest all the accused as I propose to frame charges at the next hearing. We can't keep the trial waiting as the matter is time-bound."
