Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti greets the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, with a garland at the Bharatiya Janata Party office-bearers meeting in Bangalore on Wednesday.

BANGALORE, SEPT. 8. The former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, has said that the political situation was changing fast since the Bharatiya Janata Party launched its `satyagraha' for the withdrawal of the "false cases" against the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti. The coming days were going to be "highly favourable" to the BJP and its allies, he claimed.

Addressing the national office-bearers' meeting of the BJP here today, Mr. Vajpayee said the ruling coalition was in "disarray" and relations between the Congress and the Communist parties were "souring". He called upon the party to work together. Mr. Vajpayee said the United Progressive Alliance Government had nothing to show as achievements in its first 100 days in power and the problems of the people were mounting. There was no single power centre in the Government.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, L.K. Advani, the BJP president, M. Venkaiah Naidu, and Ms. Bharti participated in the meeting, attended by 54 senior leaders.
