Five records shattered

BANGALORE, SEPT. 8. Pallavi Sukumar pipped Sneha Patil to the girls' under-16 100m hurdles gold and also set a new meet record on a day when five new records were created in the Canara Bank-State junior athletics championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Wednesday. Pallavi of Indo German Club clocked 14.8s and erased Sneha Patil's record of 15.2s set last year.

Kavya Muthanna (under-18, high jump, 1.70m) and Natasha Sagar (under-16, pentathlon, 2976 pts) made new marks in the girls' section. Among the boys, S. Amith Yadav (under-18, 110m hurdles, 14.4s) and P.K. Manoj (under-18, hammer throw, 45.90m) were the record makers.

Boys: Under-20: 10km walk: Mohammed Ghouse Peer (Shimoga); 110m hurdles: Guruprasad Bhat (Belgaum); Discus: M.C. Mohan Kumar (Mysore); 10,000m: Shivanand Malli (Bagalkot); 800m: Bhim Rao Poojari (Sports Hostel, Bangalore); 4x100m relay: Kolar; Long jump: 1. Ranjeet Shetty (Indo German).

Under-18: 110m hurdles: S. Amith Yadav (Sports Hostel, Bangalore), 14.4s NMR; Hammer: P.K. Manoj (Arjun T&F), 45.9m NMR; 800m: P.K. Allappa (Sports Hostel, Bangalore); 4x100m relay: Bangalore Sports Club; 200m: Karan (BSC); High jump: G.K. Mohan (SAI, Bangalore).

Under-16: 800m: N. Manjunath (Youngsters Bangalore); 100m hurdles: Kuman Naik (Dharwad); Pentathlon: M. Ganesh (St. Joseph's); Javelin: C. Nagaraj (Bangalore Rural).

Girls: Under-20: Discus: Arpitha Rai (DK); 800m: Jyothi Kolekar (SAI, Bangalore); Long jump: Shalini N. Joshi (Dharwad); 200m: D. Mangala (SAI, Bangalore).

Under-18: 100m hurdles: Viraja Achar (BSC); 800m: Manjula (DK); High jump: Kavya Muthanna (MCC), 1.70m NMR; 200m: Shilpa R. Rao; Discus: Sohani Fernandes (DK); Triple jump: H.N. Bhavya Urs (SAI Madikeri).

Under-16: Shot put: Pallavi Sukumar (Indo German); Javelin: Mallika (BSC); 100m hurdles: Pallavi Sukumar (Indo German), 14.8s NMR; 800m: B.E. Indira (SS Vidyanagar); Pentathlon: Natasha Sagar (Indo German), 2976 pts NMR.

Under-14: Triathlon: Ankitha (Sports School, Kudige).
