UN seminar ends

NEW DELHI SEPT. 8. The eight-day United Nations CIVPOL Senior Management Seminar organised by the UN CIVPOL Training Centre ended at the ITBP premises here.

The aim of the seminar was to prepare police officers for senior managerial posts in UN CIVPOL missions. The centre has trained more than 1,200 police officers of various States and Central police forces since its inception.

Delivering the valedictory speech, the Director-General of ITBP, K.J. Singh, expressed the hope that "the training would equip the officers with the required skills to take up the challenges of UN CIVPOL mission".

Around 32 senior police officers from 18 countries attended the seminar.

`Swabhimaan Diwas' celebrated

NEW DELHI SEPT. 8. Salwan Public School in Old Rajinder Nagar here celebrated "Swabhimaan Diwas" earlier this week in honour of Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore who won the silver medal at the Athens Olympics this year.

Major Rathore addressed the students and felicitated the young sport stars of the school. The member of the India Olympic Association, Sushil Datt Salwan, promised a "Bruno rifle" signed by Major Rathore to any Salwanian who reaches the Asian Games level in shooting in the coming years. The Chairman of the School, Harpal Singh, was also present at the function.

HR professionals' meet

NEW DELHI SEPT. 8. With a vision to create a world class education environment which allows students to fully develop their professional abilities, responsibilities and ethics, the International School of Business and Media (ISB&M) will be organising its fourth HR Share in the Capital on September 10 and 11. Thirty-five HR professionals from across the country would participate in the two-day meet. The idea behind organising the HR Share is to give the best that the industry has to offer to students budding managers in the field of HR.

Swami Sivananda remembered

NEW DELHI SEPT. 8. The National Cultural Organisation today celebrated the 119th birthday of Swami Sivananda Saraswati, founder of Divine Life Society at Rishikesh.

The NCO Chairman, N.P. Seshadri, paying rich tributes to Swamiji for spreading spiritualism and the message of Vedanta throughout the world through his powerful writings and publications, recalled that on this day way back in 1952 he had the privilege to present an address on Swamiji's 66th birthday at Rishikesh "when Swamiji delivered a thrilling address". NCO has been celebrating this day every year with great elan. From next year a `Swami Sivananda Award' would be presented to a spiritualist, Dr. Seshadri announced.
