Couple's murder mystery solved

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 8. The Toopran police of Medak district on Wednesday arrested three persons in connection with the brutal murder of a couple whose decomposed bodies were found in their Dandepally village house on August 27.

The arrested -- R. Srinivas, P. Pullaiah and I. Bhikshapathi -- confessed to have gangraped Ch. Swaroopa on August 25 night and killed her and her husband, Ramaswamy, the Toopran DSP, G. Mohan Reddy, said.

Initially, the police took it for a murder for gain case as the culprits took away gold ornaments worn by Swaroopa and some cash from a briefcase. Subsequent investigation revealed that Srinivas had illegal intimacy with Swaroopa. He hatched a plan to rape and kill her after she refused to entertain his friends, Pullaiah and Bhikshapathi. On August 25 night, the trio barged into the house, beat up the wife and husband, who fell unconscious. Later, they allegedly gangraped Swaroopa and hacked her husband as he was gaining conscious. The accused later killed the woman also.
