BANGALORE, SEPT. 8. An engineering student travelling in an autorickshaw was robbed of Rs. 600 cash, an ATM card,and the college identity card in Siddapura Police Station limits on Tuesday night. According to the complainant, B.K. Mishra, a native of Orissa and doing B.Tech course in R.V. College of Engineering, he boarded an autorickshaw at Nettakalappa Circle, after meeting his friend. He asked the autorickshaw driver to go to the college hostel where he was staying. The autorickshaw driver, he said, took a circuitous route and midway picked up two men. Then Mr. Mishra was taken to an isolated area near Saraladevi High School in Jayanagar 1st Block. The autorickshaw driver and his two accomplices beat up Mr. Mishra and ran away with the materials. Mr. Mishra filed a complaint on Wednesday.
Gadgets stolen
A group of strangers assaulted a watchman and robbed computers and other electronic gadgets worth Rs. two lakh from a laboratory in Hennur Police Station limits in the early hours of Wednesday. The police said the strangers tied Srinivas Rao (60), watchman of Ganga Biotech Laboratory, to a chair and beat him up. Later, they broke the locks of the main door of the laboratory and took away computers, batteries, and other electronic gadgets. The laboratory director, G. Krishnan, has filed a complaint.
Mason murdered
An elderly mason was found dead with his throat slit near the railway track near the Cantonment Railway Station on Wednesday. The Railway Police said the mason, a native of Tamil Nadu, might have been murdered. He was wearing a white shirt and a white dhoti, the police said.
Arrested
A team from the Organised Crime Prevention Cell on Tuesday arrested 10 persons on charges of gambling and recovered from them five mobile phones and Rs. 31,000 in cash. The police gave the names of the accused as C. Umesh (30), C. Lokesh (25), M. Balakrishna (29), P. Muruga (22), U. Lokesh (28), M. Pappanna (36), S. Govind (26), A. Shekar (33), R. Venkatesh (29), and C. Nagaraj (24). The accused were allegedly playing "andar-bahar" in a house in Indiranagar in Basaveshwara Nagar Police Station limits.
