TIRUCHI, SEPT. 8. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is all set to launch an accountless Internet service based on calling line identification in the Tiruchi Telecom district from tomorrow. A BSNL release said the accountless CLI-based service would provide an access to Internet only for BSNL's Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) subscribers. The service would be made available at the usual rates charged on telephone lines. Any customer having a BSNL PSTN connection would be able to access the Internet without an Internet account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or pre-activation or renewal. Access would be provided to registered users. The salient features of the new service were a postpaid scheme, a `pay-as-you-use' facility and surfing of the Internet at 10 paise a minute in addition to the usual telephone charges. The other advantages of the CLI account are that subscribers need not fill in forms. BSNL offers free online registration, ensures that individual accounts are not misused, provides the Internet bill along with the telephone bill. It also allows the downloading of a NETONE dialler. Tiruchi SDCA PSTN customers can access this service at (0431) 172222. The service would be extended to other stations in due course, the release added.
