Now power connection over phone

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 8. The New Delhi Power Limited today announced "new electricity connection over phone" facility for government and high revenue base consumers.

The NDPL, the discom that supplies power to North and North-West Delhi, in a statement said the scheme for average domestic consumers would be brought in after April 2005. In a statement, it said high revenue base consumer included all domestic, non-domestic and agriculture users having a load of 16 KW or more and industrial users having load of 11 kW and above.

"These consumers can now apply for a new connection by just making a call to the NDPL's Commercial Call Center. Rest formalities would be completed by us at their doorstep," it said.

"We are just a call away - is our service philosophy. Be it for new connections or any bill or meter related problem our consumers just have to call at 55111912 and the rest would be taken care of by our staff," said Anil Sardana, NDPL chief executive officer. He also urged consumers not to pay any money to any person, even claiming to be an imposter as NDPL employee or contractor. To apply for a new connection, the consumers are just required to give details over phone regarding the type of connection required. After registering the necessary details, the NDPL Call Center Executive fixes an appointment with the requester, following which field service executive would visit the consumer premises and collects necessary documents. If the consumer fulfils all the mandatory requirements and there are no pending dues, a demand note is issued for payment of necessary connection charges. After the consumer pays the demand note, the connection shall be released immediately," it said.

Further, the NDPL Commercial Call Center would also take care of all kinds of complaints regarding billing and metering issues including billing complaints, non receipt of bills, duplicate bills, arrear complaints, payment not getting credited in bill, all meter related complaints including fast movement of meters, meter not being read, theft and misuse and unauthorised use of connection.

"The consumer can call on the hotline number 55111912 and register their complaint by giving the necessary details," Mr. Sardana said.
