Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Congress is harping on the fact that Uma Bharti did not give the details of the Hubli rioting case in her affidavit while filing her nomination. It was the Congress that was in power in Karnataka. Ms. Bharti was not absconding either. She was addressing election rallies, and was later sworn in as Chief Minister. Why was the Government silent all along? Both Ms. Bharti's and Shibu Soren's cases seem to have been raked up only for settling political scores.
R. Rajagopalan,
Sir, The Uma Bharti arrest, the Savarkar issue, and a statistical trend in India's demographics they all will undoubtedly be exploited by the Sangh Parivar on the streets of India. The irony is that the Parivar feels that these events have pushed it on to a morally higher ground.
K. Anand,
