CHENNAI, SEPT. 9. Records in the ``disproportionate wealth case'' against the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, were loaded into a lorry which today left for Bangalore, where the trial will be held. The loading of the records, contained in 17 cardboard boxes, started around 9 p.m. after a day of hectic activity in a special court here. Official sources told The Hindu that initially it was planned to send the records in trunk boxes. But since this arrangement did not materialise, the exhibits, numbering about 2,450, were put in cardboard boxes. Earlier, around 10.40 a.m. two Tamil Nadu Government officials came to the court and held discussions with the special judge on the arrangements for transferring the records. Later, the authorities concerned settled for cardboard boxes. The boxes arrived in the afternoon and work on packing the records began. In the evening, one more Karnataka official, Vedamurthy, an Under-Secretary in the Law Department, joined Venkatesh, Registrar (Vigilance), Karnataka High Court; Balakrishna, Additional Secretary in the Law Department, and Pitchaimuthu, a court Sheristadar, who were already collecting the records. But the vehicle from Bangalore which was to carry the documents did not arrive as expected. After a long wait, another vehicle arrived at 8-50 p.m. and the loading of records began. The vehicle left thereafter. Work on identifying and collecting the documents by Karnataka official team was taken up in the wake of a Supreme Court order last month.
