KC(M) hits out at Jacob

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 9. The Kerala Congress(M) today lashed out at the Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader, T.M. Jacob, for holding it and its leader, K.M. Mani, responsible for his exclusion from the Oommen Chandy Ministry.

Joy Abraham and Joseph M. Puthussery, general secretaries, and Thomas Chazhikkadan, parliamentary party secretary of the Kerala Congress(M), said at a joint press conference here today that Mr. Jacob himself and not anybody else was responsible for his present plight.

Harming UDF's interests

They accused him of having voted against the official candidate in the Rajya Sabha election. In the Thiruvalla byelection, even though he had made a statement dissociating from it, in reality he worked against the UDF candidate. During the Lok Sabha election, after having made a few public appearances in the Muvattupuzha constituency, he openly worked against the UDF candidate, they alleged.

KC (Jacob) retaliates

Meanwhile, leaders of the Kerala Congress (Jacob) have rallied behind their leader, T.M. Jacob. The KC (Jacob) vice-chairman, Oommen Mathew, and the party general secretary, George Kunnappuzha, accused the Revenue Minister and KC(M) leader, K.M. Mani, of having conspired with powerful sections in the UDF to keep Mr. Jacob out of the Oommen Chandy Cabinet.
