GIDA council meeting

KOCHI, SEPT. 9. The 16th general council meeting of the Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA) will be held at the Government Guest House at 11 a.m. on Friday. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, who is the chairman of the council, will preside over the meeting. The sale of the reclaimed land owned by the GIDA will come up for discussions at the meeting, it is learnt.

Aeroquiz

today

The Aeroquiz-2004 will be held at the Naval Base on Friday under the aegis of the Kochi branch of the Aeronautical Society of India. Twelve selected schools from various parts of the district will participate in the quiz. Rear Admiral R.F. Contractor, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, will be the chief guest.

E-mail ID changed

The Regional Passport Office, Cochin has changed its e-mail address. The new address is rpo.Cochin@mea.gov.in, said an official press release issued here today.

Applications invited

The Kerala History Association has invited applications for the P.S. Velayudhan Sapthati Award from publishers and authors for original works on history published either in Malayalam or English in 2001, 2002 or 2003. Four copies of the book should reach the Association, Hospital Road, Ernakulam - 682 011 before October 20. The winner of the award will get a citation and a cash prize of Rs.5,000.

Training

given

The training section of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) organised a two-day training session on crisis management for contractors and supervisors in chemical industry. The FACT general manager general manager, N.K. Pillai, inaugurated the session.

Education fair

"New Zealand Education Fair 2004", showcasing the best of New Zealand education, will begin here on September 14 at Hotel Abad Plaza. Representatives from over 20 educational institutions across New Zealand will attend the fair and seminars on business studies, engineering courses and student visas will also be held.

Quiz

The Oxford University Press and the Toc-H Public School will jointly organise an all Kerala inter-school `Find Out Trophy' quiz competition at the Toc-H school indoor stadium here on Friday.
