Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the Government's move of engaging experts from multilateral institutions in the consultative groups of the Planning Commission. It is unfortunate that even after 57 years of Independence we look to foreigners for guidance.
G.M. Venkataraman,
Sir, I echo the question, "Are we intellectually bankrupt?" (Sept. 8). The UPA Government is not living up to its commitment of `reforms with a human face.' Looks like it will go the way of `India Shining.'
Maggie Thomas,
Sir, It is gratifying to note that non-governmental organisations have raised their voice against the appointment of people from multilateral agencies on the Planning Commission's panels (Sept. 8). But where was their faith in the Indian intellect when all these years some of them were flaunting the World Commission on Dams report a document produced by foreigners as the bible on water management in India?
Chetan Pandit,
