Engaging Pakistan

Sir, — This refers to the article "Engaging Pakistan" (Sept. 9). Pakistan will continue to support terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir as long as Pervez Musharraf remains the army chief. The basis of his survival is the Pakistan army. Withdrawing support to terrorists would mean a decline in the importance of the army, which neither General Musharraf nor his army would accept.
