Initiative in removing stain from fabrics

TIRUPUR: The Textiles Committee here has taken up measures for identifying and testing of various substitutes (used by the garment manufacturers in the town) for "carbon tetra chloride" (CTC) that is applied by these manufacturers on fabrics for removal of stain. The Deputy Director of the Committee, Coimbatore, A. Unnikrishnan, said the committee had recently taken up a project (funded by the German technical cooperation) to identify the substitutes available in the market and also to test these items. The committee would also check for the efficiency of these materials. — Our Staff Reporter
