Making films with camera phones

AHMEDABAD, SEPT. 10. Using the mobile phone camera as a tool to project their creativity, freelance film-makers and students from the National Institute of Design and the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology participated in the "micro-movie segment" of the Berlin Film Festival 2004.

With subjects ranging from the post-Godhra communal riots to a man's daily routine, they have shot the `micro-film' — with a maximum duration of 90 seconds — shot entirely with mobile camera instead of a bulky movie camera.

"It is a thrilling experience to shoot with the mobile camera ... an innovative way indeed. There is a lot of flexibility as far as portability is concerned," said Vinod Kuriakose, a freelance film-maker, who made The Neccessary Action on the post-Godhra riots. — PTI
