Government told to specify plan

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 10. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has asked the State Government to come out with a specific action plan to contain faction feuds and find a permanent solution to faction killings.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the former Ministers -- S. Chandramohan Reddy and Tammineni Seetaram -- asked the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, to tour Andhra Pradesh, particularly Anantapur district, to study the violence allegedly unleashed by the Congress party against the TDP leaders and cadres.

Invoking Act

They doubted whether the Prevention Detection Act was sought to be invoked to target the TDP leaders of Anantapur. The Act should cover Congress factionalists, the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and the Minister for Panchayat Raj, J. C. Diwakar Reddy, who had a running faction feud between 1989-94, they added.

Jana Rakshana Samiti

The Government should throw more light on the little known outfit -- Jana Rakshana Samiti -- that owned up responsibility for the killing of the TDP leader, Tagarkunta Prabhakar, in Anantapur town.

It was nothing but a creation of the Police Department and went on to add that the Operation Blue Fox launched in Rayalaseema was to eliminate its leaders.
