KOLKATA, SEPT. 11. Telesynergy Research Group, a U.S.-based telecomm company has decided to initially pump in $1 million in a joint venture project for setting up a 100-seater call centre here. Cost-effectiveness of location is one of the main reasons for opting to locate the unit here in association with Descon Ltd., a company which is engaged in developing software packages for power and other sectors. Promoted by Dishergarh Power Company Ltd , Descon also provides Internet services to corporate clients, its Chairman and Managing Director, S. Radhakrishnan, said. James Kou of Telesynergy said this would be their third investment in India, after Kerala and Gujarat. He said that the U.S. company would also supply the necessary equipment in a backward integration measure that would enhance the project's cost-competitiveness. According to Mr. Radhakrishnan the centre is expected to be operational by January 2005, reaching its ultimate capacity of 500 seats by end-2005. This would be West Bengal's largest call centre in and also Telesynergies biggest project in India.
