Nellore
By Our Staff Reporter
NELLORE, SEPT.11. The District Congress Committee (DCC) has taken exception to the remarks made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders on Thursday, during the latter's dharna before the Collectorate against the `anti-people' policies of the State Government.
`Claim' disputed
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the DCC president, C.V. Sesha Reddy, lashed out at the remarks of the former Information Minister, S. Chnadramohan Reddy, that the Government was not inclined to supply the much needed Krishna water to Nellore district. He disputed the TDP's claim that it brought water during calamity in 1999 and saved standing crops. Mr. Sesha Reddy asserted that what was supplied was nothing but `flood water' and asserted that the TDP has no moral right to criticise the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He pointed as to how the TDP, during its reign, allegedly used brutal force against agitating farmers.
`Promises redeemed'
Though 100 days was a short period, the Chief Minister, has redeemed some of the promises like free power. The DCC chief, referred to the agitation against power charges at Nellore during the TDP rule and the resultant lathicharge. Mr. Sesha Reddy, described as nothing but `drama', the so-called fainting of Mr. Chandramohan Reddy at the Collectorate on Thursday and remarked that it was due to his confinement all these years, to `air-conditioned' comfort.
Plea to TDP
He appealed to the TDP not to `twist' facts and extend necessary co-operation to Mr. Rajasekhara Reddy, as a responsible Opposition to provide a stable Government.
