Remarks unintended: TRS chief
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
SEPT. 11.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has toned down his rhetoric against the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, in the wake of an outcry in political circles over his remarks.
Mr. Rao told reporters on Saturday that he had made certain remarks about Ms. Gandhi in the course of his speech at a TRS workers' meeting here on Friday "but it was not intended." The remarks were made in a tone and tenor typical of Telangana dialect in the context of informing the workers who had turned up from various Telangana districts about the severity of the Telangana movement.
Mr. Rao said he did not intend to show disrespect to Ms. Gandhi. There was no need for Congressmen to get hurt.
