VISAKHAPATNAM, SEPT. 11. Unidentified miscreants sneaked into the Venkateswaraswami temple complex located atop a hill near the BHPV on Friday night and fled under the cover of darkness with four hundis. Police said that the complex housed the temples of Vinayaka, Anjaneyaswami and other idols. Temple sources said one of the main hundis contained a collection of over Rs. 300. On receipt of information, a police team was sent for collecting fingerprints and other evidence. The Additional DCP, A.V. Subba Rao, said that the Gajuwaka Police were trying to nab the burglars.
Car stolen
A white Maruti Zen (AP16AB 5040) owned by a contractor, B. Simhadri, was stolen by unknown persons when he parked it in front of his house in Seethammadhara on Saturday. Mr. Simhadri said in his complaint that he parked his car on the road and went into his house for a shower. "A few minutes later, I heard the engine sound and saw the car moving fast,'' he said. Later, he alerted the Police Control Room. A few days ago, a Maruti Esteem car was reported missing in Three Town Police Station limits. Police suspect the involvement of a professional gang.
