PONDICHERRY, SEPT. 11. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, has called for producing films with good social and moral content. Inaugurating a three-day 21st annual Festival of Indian Films (Panorama 2004) organised jointly by the Directorate of Film Festivals New Delhi, the Directorate of Information and Publicity here and the Pondicherry based Navadarshan Film Society on Friday, he regretted that most of the award winning movies were seldom viewed by the people. He called upon cinemas to ensure that they screened documentaries along with commercial films. The holding of film festivals screening the award winning movies was a good and proper step on the part of the organisers,he said. The Chief Minister presented a cash award of Rs 10,000 to Amshan Kumar, the Director of the movie `Oruththi`, to encourage such attempts of film world. The award was given under a scheme of Pondicherry Administration.
