TDP springs to Sonia's defence

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 11. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, on Saturday received support from unexpected quarters -- the Telugu Desam Party -- over the intemperate outburst of TRS chief, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, against her.

Referring to the "insulting" remarks of Mr. Rao that "Ms.Gandhi will be dragged to the bazaar if Telangana did not get Statehood," the TDP Mahila wing president, N. Rajakumari, lambasted him at press conference here. "It is objectionable. Ms. Gandhi is the president of a national party," she added.

How could he talk in such a language against a woman, she asked and recalled that only recently he had described her as a "goddess".
