Korea regains title
By M.C. Raman
DOHA,
SEPT. 11.
Korea regained the Asian junior men's volleyball championship, defeating defending champion Iran 26-28, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18 in the final of the 12th edition at the Khalifa complex here on Friday.
Having beaten Iran in straight sets in the pool game, Korea was in a better frame of mind. After a shaky start, it stood out in attack and block. Korea could have posted a straight-set win, but the team fumbled at 25-all in the first set and lost.
Iran found the going tough in the second set despite Sadeghiani's superb spiking. Solaimani was good in patches, while Ranjbar's block failed as the Korean attack was too sharp.
Qatar finished third, overcoming Japan 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-10.
