SYDNEY, SEPT. 11 . Desperate to recover before Australia visits next month, Sachin Tendulkar will undergo the revolutionary shockwave treatment to cure his tennis elbow. The injury has kept Tendulkar out of action since the triangular series in Holland. The Sydney Morning Herald quotes team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus as saying that Tendulkar's treatment would have to be intensified to have him fit before the four-match Test series against Ricky Ponting's side. According to the daily, Tendulkar had been practising hard in the `nets' in Mumbai just before the triangular series in Holland. He reportedly had so much pain in his left elbow that he could not raise his bat in a backswing. Standard physiotherapy had had little effect, because of which he would have to go in for shockwave treatment. Saying that he would now recommend shockwave therapy a treatment used for the first time at the Athens Olympic Games last month, Leipus said, "we're going to try this new shockwave treatment out on the elbow. It's the latest thing. It's localised treatment, which works a little like an ultrasound." UNI
