A goalless draw

KOLKATA, SEPT. 11. Former champion Mohun Bagan maintained a point's lead over its archrival Kingfisher East Bengal as the two city giants had a goalless outing in the super-six league match of Calcutta Football League's Super Division here at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.

Mohun Bagan tallied 31 points while East Bengal progressed to 30. With the city in the grip of persistent rain all through the day, the turf was rendered almost unplayable as players of both sides struggled to keep themselves up on the slush. There was little action possible and that could not fetch any goal.

The brightest chance came for the defending champion East Bengal late in the 83rd minute but the mud around the Mohun Bagan goalmouth thwarted Bengal's efforts.
