NEW DELHI, SEPT. 11. The Delhi Medical Council (DMC) elections began here today with about 3,500 doctors casting their vote to elect eight doctors from the 31candidates in the fray. Polling began at 9 a.m. at the two booths set up at Maulana Azad Medical College's boys hostel and guesthouse. Of the 25,000 registered doctors in the Capital, 13,000 are likely to cast their vote today. During the second round of polling on Sunday, 12,000 doctors are eligible to exercise their franchise. Polling will come to an end at 5 p.m. According to the Returning Officer S.K. Khatri, polling went off peacefully in the presence of a Delhi High Court appointed observer. "We have made adequate arrangements to ensure that polling goes off peacefully ,'' said Dr. Khatri.
