NEW DELHI, SEPT. 11. The Delhi police tonight made further headway in the Subba Farms murder case with the arrest of the second security guard, Arjun, from South-West Delhi. The other security guard, Ravi, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh on Friday. He had reportedly told the police that the prime suspect, Narendra Subba, brother-in-law of the Member of Parliament, Mani Kumar Subba, had used his (Ravi's) gun to kill the MP's personal assistant, Milan. At Ravi's instance, the police have recovered the gun from the bushes in the farmhouse at Vasant Kunj where the incident had occurred in the wee hours of Thursday. Police sources added that Jyoti, wife of Mani Subba, who had allegedly tried to shield Narendra, might be arrested. She is being questioned by the police. Following Ravi's statement, the police have now been able to reconstruct the sequence of events. He told the police that after consuming liquor at a party in the farmhouse on Wednesday evening, Narendra began arguing with Milan on the first floor. There was heated exchange of words between the two over who was closer to the MP and more efficient at work. Investigations have revealed that both Narendra and Milan were nursing political ambitions and were trying to outdo each other in showing their loyalty to the MP from Tezpur in Assam. As the argument between Narendra and Milan turned ugly, Ravi and Arjun rushed upstairs. As they watched from a distance, an angry Milan boxed Narendra in his face. Narendra rushed towards Ravi, snatched his gun and shot Milan in his chest from point blank range. Ravi allegedly helped Narendra in cleaning up the crime scene and left for his home after throwing the gun in the bushes of the farmhouse. He then left for Mainpuri in U.P. from where he was arrested. According to Jyoti's alleged confession, she was sleeping in one of the rooms but woke up after hearing the commotion. She planned the escape of her brother and tried to destroy the evidence with the help of others. It is learnt that Narendra, along with Arjun, left in the car of a North Delhi-based businessman, saying he was leaving for Guwahati. Jyoti had reportedly told the police that she asked someone to drive Narendra away from the farmhouse. Later, the crime scene was cleaned up, though the police recovered the empty shell of .12-bore gun from the garbage dump. Police sources said Jyoti's involvement in destroying the evidence and shielding Narendra was quite evident and she might be charged for the same. Even when she called up the Police Control Room around 9 a.m., Jyoti had said that the caretaker of the farmhouse had been shot dead and two security guards were absconding. There was no mention of Narendra. The police said the main task before them was to look for the main accused Narendra. Further investigations are on.
