By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA, SEPT. 11. The Rastra Dalita Sena's city Mahila president, D. Vijayalakshmi, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike in front of the sub-collector's office for the past six days to protest against the transfer of Krishna District Collector, K. Prabhakara Reddy, and the Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada, T. Krishna Prasad, called off her agitation here on Saturday. She ended the fast by accepting a glass of lime juice from the Chairman of the Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalgiri Urban Development Authority (VGTM UDA), Malladi Vishnu.

Mr. Vishnu, who visited the camp, said the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had made it clear when he came here on the last day of the Krishna Pushkara Mahotsavams, that officers who were not indicted by the R.C. Sandal Committee would be re-instated in their jobs. The orders transferring Krishna Mr. Prabhakara Reddy and Mr. Krishna Prasad, would be in all probability withdrawn, he told the agitators.

Non-gazetted officers' demand

The Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers' Association on Saturday demanded that the Government reinstate Mr. Prabhakara Reddy Mr. Krishna Prasad, as they could not be held guilty for the tragic incident that involved "collective responsibility."

"It is not right to single out the two officials and punish them. If the Government considers them responsible because they were heading the two departments, the Ministers who supervised the arrangements should also resign," APNGOs president, B.V. Subba Rao, said.

He was addressing a press conference here on Saturday.
