HYDERABAD, SEPT. 11. About 30 women from villages, who were trained in fashion designing and tribal arts, were distributed with sewing machines at a function held at Ghatkesar on Saturday. The Executive Director of the NABARD, Amaresh Kumar, was chief guest. The women were trained by Sri Sai Educational Society (SSES), an NGO. Mr. Amaresh Kumar stressed the need for more such programmes for empowerment of women in rural areas and also to check migration to the city. The Ranga Reddy district Collector, L. Premchandra Reddy, said the district administration provided a subsidy of 50 per cent for the machines while the SBH, Ghatkesar branch, provided a loan of Rs. 1,20,000. M.N. Prasad, president of the SSES, explained the activities of the organisation. A display of arte-crafts produced by the trainees was also held. Rambabu, project director, DRDA, and K. Srinivas, secretary, SSES were among those present.
