HYDERABAD, SEPT.11. Interschool competitions with the theme, `Road Safety - Our Responsibility,' in elocution, quiz and painting were organised at the Apollo Hospitals on Saturday. The Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Tejdeep Kaur Menon, and the actor, Ali, gave away the prizes. Speaking at a programme after the competitions, Mr. Ali said the driving licenses of people talking on cell phones while driving should be cancelled. "In Delhi, the driver is fined up to Rs. 5,000 and his license is cancelled," he said.
The winners
P.J.L. Pratima of Chinmaya Vidyalaya won the first prize in the painting competition, followed by P. Sonika of St. Paul's High school, who stood second; V. Sindhu of Prathiba High school won the third prize. In Elocution, Sri Vidya of Gitanjali High school won the first prize, Jyotsna of the same school the second and Shahataz stood third. In the quiz competition, Aditya Kashyap and Sai Siddharth of St. Joseph Public School won the first prize, Raghavendra and Sandeep Reddy of Gitanjali High school stood second and Koundinya and P. Goutam of Vidya Grammar High school, Nalgonda, won the third prize. As many as 250 students from over 70 schools across the State participated, according to a press release.
