HYDERABAD, SEPT.11. The Central Power Distribution Company Limited, Metro Zone, has said consumers' apprehension that electronic meters showed higher readings than the actual consumption were baseless.
Provision for consumers
The Chief General Manager, A. Srinivasa Rao, in a release said that the consumers could verify the meters' precision by getting them tested in their presence by paying a fee. They could approach the Assistant Engineers, Operation, in this regard. If the meter was found defective, the fee would be refunded and the meter, replaced at the department's cost. He, however, advised the consumers to use the below mentioned gadgets to reduce the consumption of energy: electronic chokes instead of ordinary ones, compact fluorescent lamps in the place of electrical filament lamps and tubelights of higher rating, T5(30W) instead of T12(65W) ones, submersible pumps instead of jet pumps, gas geysers instead of electric ones, and metal halide lamps instead of halogen lamps. Any complaints on the meters and power supply could be lodged with customer service centres in the sub-division offices for urgent redress, he said.
